Mr. Paul Alvin Whitener, age 68, of Ward Mountain Road, Adairsville, passed away on June 28, 2015 at Cartersville Medical Center.
He was born in Five Forks Community in Cassville, GA, April 26, 1947, son of the late Albert and Zona Fields Whitener. Alvin was a self-employed garage door installer for thirty years and member of the Adairsville Masonic Lodge #168. His special hobbies included family tree research, farming, his animals, and "The Tree House". Mr. Whitener was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Clarence, Earnest, Ralph, and James Whitener; sisters, Carol Blalock, Ann Gibson, and Betty Daniels; daughter, Paula Kelley and great-granddaughter, Aubrey Turner.
Survivors include his loving wife, Annette Whitener; daughter, Wendy Haney; sons and daughters-in-law, Reverend Donnie and Carol Whitener , Morris and Elsa Whitener, and C.J. Morris; 11 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; special great-grandson, Anthony Morris; sisters-in-law, Joanie Whitener, Sue Weaver, Charlotte Borders, and Kathy and Chuck Fifelski; brothers-in-law, Steve and Brenda Borders, Gary and Janet Borders, and Ernie Weavers; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Barton Funeral Home, Adairsville, with Ministers Donnie Whitener Wesley Morris, and Jerry Boston officiating. Interment will follow in the Oak Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, Rydal with full masonic rites. Pallbearers will include C. J. Morris, Morris Whitener, Kevin Paul Whitener, Mitchell Morris, Ashton Haney, and Chuck Fifelski. Honorary pallbearers will be Reverend Donnie Whitener, Jesse Blackmon, and members of the Adairsville Masonic Lodge #168.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Barton Funeral Home, Adairsville.
