Obituary
Mrs. Pearl Rutherford Martin, age 88, of Adair Hollow Road, Adairsville passed away Wednesday, February 22, 2012, at Redmond Regional Hospital.
She was born in Lee County, FL, June 13, 1923, daughter of the late Theodore and Florence "Ike" Harvey Rutherford. Mrs. Martin had attended schools in Ft. Myers, FL and also Atlanta, GA. When she left School she went to work at Sears and Roebuck and later at the United States Civil Service as a clerk typist. She was a veteran having served in the United States Marine Corps Woman's Reserve as a member of the Woman's 13th Cadre. Mrs. Rutherford also volunteered to go overseas to work for the Civil Service at USAFE Headquarters in Wiesbaden, Germany. She was member of the Adairsville United Methodist Church where she was proud to be a "Senior Saint" and was preceded in death by her husband, John Alfred Martin; 2 brothers and 3 sisters.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Kay Roan and Frank Griffith of Kennesaw; 2 sons and daughter-in-law, Mike Martin of Adairsville and Jon and Cathy Martin of Rome; 3 grandchildren, Samantha Hammonds, Allison Hammonds, and Cyndi and Chris Smith; 4 great grandchildren, Blake, Madison, Mitchell, and Brooke Smith
Memorial services will be held Saturday, February 25, 2012, at 6:00 PM at Adairsville United Methodist Church, Adairsville, with Min. Skip Mitchell officiating.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 5:00 PM until 6:00 PM in the church. They will have dinner following the service at the Family Life Center.
R. Dudley Barton & Son Funeral Home, Adairsville, is in charge of funeral arrangements for Mrs. Pearl Martin.
