Peggy Gulledge Hunter's Obituary

Mrs. Peggy Gulledge Hunter, age 89, of Kingston, went to be with her Lord and Savior Tuesday, April 7, 2026, surrounded by her loved ones.

She was born in Adairsville, GA, July 12, 1936, daughter of the late Rose Mary Clark Gulledge and Ernest C. “Mutt” Gulledge, SR. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband, Clifford Elmore Hunter, an infant daughter, son, Terry Lee Hunter, daughter-in-law, Ramona West Hunter; brothers, Jack Delbert Gulledge and Roy Edward Gulledge.

Survivors include her son, Dean Hunter; grandchildren, Michael Hunter (Jessica), Faith Hunter, and Hope Montgomery; great-grandchildren, Mariah Hunt, Emma Knight, Kaylee Earwood (Logan), Aubree Worthington, Levi Hunter, Lucas Montgomery, and Loran Montgomery; great great-grandchildren, Kodi Knight, Levi Earwood, Langston Earwood, Ivy Earwood, Camden Montgomery, Carter Montgomery, Natalie Henderson and Jayden Henderson; brothers, Ernest C. Gulledge, JR., Randy Gulledge (Debbie), and Johnny Gulledge (TaRahma); sisters, Mary Rose Self (F. A.), Anne Ledford, and Joy Shugart (Mike); a number of nieces and nephews.

Peggy was the last charter member of the Adairsville Church of God and a proud retiree of Crown Craft. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great‑grandmother, and sister whose giving spirit touched everyone around her. Always ready to help her family, Peggy lived a life rooted in kindness and generosity. She enjoyed word searches, bingo, and was known for being an exceptional baker and cook. Trips to the mountains were among her favorite getaways, and she especially cherished the annual Christmas trip she shared with her sister. A lifelong Elvis fan, she even fulfilled her dream of visiting Graceland. Peggy also loved browsing flea markets and antique stores, always on the lookout for hidden treasures. Her warmth, humor, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 9, 2026, at 4:00 PM from the chapel of Barton Funeral Home, Adairsville, with Rev. Steve Morrow, Rev. Vincent Gulledge, and Rev. Randy Gulledge officiating. Interment will follow in Connesena Baptist Church Cemetery, Kingston. Pallbearers include Logan Earwood, Brian Mascia, Jody Brown, Jimmy Fletcher, Lucas Montgomery, and Loran Montgomery. Honorary pallbearers include Levi Hunter and Levi Earwood.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM at Barton Funeral Home.
