Obituary

Mrs. Phyllis Hazelwood Manous, 68, of Murphy, North Carolina formerly of Cartersville, passed away peacefully Sunday, November 26, 2023, surrounded by her loving family.

Phyllis was born in Cartersville, Georgia, June 4, 1955, daughter of the late John Raymond Hazelwood and Lila Arlene Pittman Hazelwood. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Stanley W. Manous, and brother, Allen Raymond Hazelwood. She was a member of Peeples Valley Community Church and a retired bookkeeper from Lacey Champion. Phyllis enjoyed cooking and was a talented quilter and seamstress. She was a loving mother and grandmother will be dearly missed.


She is survived by her beloved daughter and son-in-law, Arlana "Jenny" and Richard Humphries of Murphy; grandchildren, Lynn Newton (Alexander), Andrea Humphries, and Rebecca Humphries; great-grandchildren, Keziah, Jaden, Harley, Indica, and Kayden; brother, Rick Neal Hazelwood and several nieces and nephews.


Funeral service will be held Thursday, November 30, 2023, at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Barton Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Hufstetler officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant Valley Baptist Church Cemetery, Adairsville. Pallbearers will be Jason Hall, Justin Hall, Bill Huskins, Preston Hazelwood, Scooter Hazelwood, and Dale Hazelwood. Honorary pallbearer will be David Phillips.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Barton Funeral Home.

R. Dudley Barton & Son Funeral Home, Adairsville, is in charge of arrangements for Mrs. Phyllis Hazelwood Manous.
