George Raymond Lancaster "Ray", age 56, of Rome passed away Tuesday, August 1, 2023, at AdventHealth Redmond.

Ray was born in Rome, GA, May 11, 1967, son of Joel R. Lancaster and the late Glenda Faye (Wright) Lancaster. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Emily Lancaster; grandchildren, Angel Baby and Elizabeth Owens; and grandparents, George and Estelle Lancaster and George and Mary Wright. Ray was of the Methodist faith and worked for Shaw Industries. He was a wonderful husband, father, son, and brother. He was always there to help and take care of his family. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hunting, farming and spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth Poole Lancaster; children, Hannah Smith (Gary), Ivy Sparks (Nathaniel), Raymond Dial (China), and Tosha Dial (G. J.) Fricks); grandchildren, Aurora and Oliver Smith, Anastasia, Aniyah, and Elias Sparks, Raylen Dial, River Dial, and Briar Fricks; father, Joel Lancaster; sister, Pamela Lancaster; nephew, Dustin Meadows (Bailee); and great nephew, Cole Meadows.

Funeral services will be held Friday, August 4, 2023, at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Barton Funeral Home, Adairsville with Ministers Steve Morrow and Mike Davenport officiating. Interment will follow in Eastview Cemetery, Adairsville. Gary Smith, Nathaniel Sparks, Dustin Meadows, Eric Pitts, Raymond Dial, and G. J. Fricks will serve as pallbearers. Oliver Smith and Raylen Dial will serve as honorary pallbearer.

The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Barton Funeral Home.
