Mr. Ray "Lightning" Stokes, age 81 of Cartersville, passed away on Monday, April 23, 2018 at Cartersville Medical Center.

He was born in Adairsville, GA, on December 28, 1936, son of the late Fletcher Ray Stokes, SR and Lillie Reece Stokes. He was retired from Flowers Industries. Ray was a coin collector and avid Atlanta Braves fan. A loving and giving man, he will be deeply missed by all of his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Leonard and Elmer Stokes; sisters, Daisy Milsapps, Rosie Samples, and Magalee White.

Survivors include his loving wife, Martha Stokes of Cartersville; sons, Randy Stokes of Cartersville and Kevin Stokes of Garland, TX; daughters, Karen (Clifford) Skelton of Acworth and Valarie Smith of Acworth; brothers, Floyd Stokes of Ball Ground and James Stokes of Kennesaw; sisters, Vera Ingle of Cartersville, Waunita Milsapps of Jasper, and Louise Stokes of Cartersville; several grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 26, 2018 at 1:00 PM from the chapel of Barton Funeral Home, Adairsville with Rev. Jim Pinkard officiating.   Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens, Cartersville. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at Barton Funeral Home, Adairsville.

Dudley Barton & Son Funeral Home, Adairsville, will be in charge of funeral arrangements for Mr. Ray "Lightning" Stokes.
