Obituary

Mrs. Retha Baggett Lacey, age 80, of Summer Street, Adairsville, passed away Saturday afternoon (June 28, 2014) at her residence.

Mrs. Lacey was born in Adairsville, Georgia, December 8, 1933, daughter of the late Ernest Andrew Baggett and Sarah Freeman Baggett. She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-one years, William Marion Lacey. Mrs. Lacey received her Bachelor's degree in Education from Berry College and a Master's degree in Library Science from the University of West Georgia. She was a teacher and librarian for thirty-four years at Adairsville Elementary School. As a member of the Adairsville Baptist Church she was active in the choir, woman's group, and on other committees. She had been in numerous civic organizations in the community, was a past president of the Adairsville Lions Club and was a member of The Sans Souci Club and Red Hat Society. Mrs. Lacey managed the City of Adairsville Housing Authority for over twenty years and also served on the Board of Directors for Bartow County Housing Authority. She enjoyed her little dog Nip and loved being with her family especially all of her grandchildren.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and David Hink of Cumming, 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Andy and Laurie Lacey of Fayetteville; Gary and Bobbie Lacey of Milton. Eleven grandchildren, Lara Catall, Lacey Catall, Mallory Catall, Tony Catall, Alex Lacey, Joe Lacey, Vicky Lacey, Josh Lacey, Allison Lacey Martin, Christina Lacey, and Eva Lacey; sister, LaDelle Nielsen of Adairsville.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Barton Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Eastview Cemetery. Pallbearers include her grandsons, Josh Lacey, Alex Lacey, Joe Lacey, Tony Catall, Cody Martin, and Jordan Copelin.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Barton Funeral Home.
