Rev. Calvin Miller, JR., age 83, of Kingston, went to be with his Lord and Savior April 20, 2026.
Calvin was born in Hazard, KY, October 25, 1942, to the late Hermie Duff Miller and Calvin Miller, SR. He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Lee Hughes Miller; sisters, Midge Combs, Mary Cole, Loretta Fletcher; brothers, Jerry Miller, David Miller, Tommy Miller and infant brother; and sister-in-law, Evelyn Lephew.
Survivors include his sisters, Beatrice Burns and Shelby Jean Fettner; brothers, Larry Miller, Ray Miller, Anthony Miller, Lewis Miller; special nephew, Philip Burns, JR; brothers-in-law, Jimmy Hughes, and Michael Hughes; several nieces and nephews
Calvin’s life was a beautiful reflection of love, faith, and quiet strength. Growing up among 14 brothers and sisters, he learned early the value of family and hard work—lessons that shaped every step of his journey. When he married Mary, the two built a partnership that lasted more than 55 blessed years, a bond filled with devotion, laughter, and a shared joy that touched everyone around them. Though they never had children of their own, they poured their hearts into helping raise their many nieces and nephews, offering the steady, unconditional love of two people who lived generously. Calvin worked as a welder for over 40 years with Primer Welding, taking pride in the skill of his hands and the honesty of a day’s work. Outside of the shop, he found peace in his vegetable garden, joy in the quiet of nature, and contentment in tinkering around his own workshop. He loved home-cooked meals, the simple pleasure of going fishing, and the warmth of gospel music—often singing and playing his guitar with a heartfelt sincerity that could lift any spirit. As an ordained minister and faithful member of Kingston Holiness Church, he shared God’s word with humility and conviction, living his faith in every act of kindness. Calvin’s life was rich not because of what he had, but because of how deeply he loved, how faithfully he served, and how fully he embraced the blessings placed in his path.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 26, 2026, at 3:00 PM from the chapel of Barton Funeral Home, Adairsville with Rev. Jessie Parker officiating. Internment will follow in White Cemetery. Calvin’s family will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM at Barton Funeral Home.
