It was at one of his early 70's shows, where he briefly met the love of his life, Marsha Lynn. Two decades later they would meet again, this time inseparably. The following years, what he would say were, "the best of his life" were shared with her, enjoying the lake, making music and raising their daughters. A humble man, he never let his fame go to his head and was steadfastly committed to his fans, never too busy to stop and talk, or pose for a photograph.
