Mr. Robert Nathan Floyd, Sr., age 84, of Big Oak Tree Road, Adairsville passed away Saturday morning (September 5, 2015) at Redmond Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Floyd was born in Hazelhurst, Georgia, June 4, 1931, son of the late John J. Floyd and Sula Hester Floyd. He was a member of Calhoun Community Church. Mr. Floyd is a veteran of the United States Navy and served in the Korean Conflict. He was owner operator of Nathan Floyd Insurance in Calhoun for many years. An outdoorsman, he loved going camping and fishing and also enjoyed woodworking. Mr. Floyd was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Doris Strickland.
He is survived by his loving wife of sixty-three years, Virginia Floyd; son, Robert N. Floyd, Jr. and wife Pamela; daughters, Linda Floyd Pitts and husband George and Patricia Breese and fiancé Jon Hazelwood; grandchildren, Jill Floyd Ball and husband Thom, Joshua David Breese, George David Pitts, and Benjaman Stuart Breese; great-grandchildren, Lily Renee Dunbar, Robert Bruce Dunbar, and Stella Rose Floyd; brothers, Darius Floyd and wife Virginia and David Floyd and wife Charlotte; sister, Mary Waldon and several nephews and nieces.
Memorial services will be held Monday, September 7, 2015, at 4:00 PM at Calhoun Community Church, Calhoun, with Pastor Jerry Rice officiating. The family will receive friends Monday from 3:00 PM until 4:00 PM at the church.
