Obituary

Mr. Robert Max Tanner, age 90, of 74 Mt. Pleasant Rd, NE, Fairmount, passed away Thursday,  September 17, 2020.

Mr. Tanner was born in Fairmount, GA, June 28, 1930, son of the late Oscar M. and Leila Wright Tanner. He was a member of Olive Vine Baptist Church, Pine Log, and a veteran of the U. S. Army, having served during the Korean Conflict.  He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, and being a man of his word.  Mr. Tanner deeply loved his family and enjoyed the simple things in life and gardening.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Beulah Ann Taylor Tanner; daughters, Deborah Cronon and Lura Watts; a son David Wayne Tanner; three sisters, Ethel Evans, Elise Jones, and Gracelle Yancey; three brothers, Danny, Weldon and Fain Tanner; and a grandson, Jacob Tate Tanner

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Wanda (Tom) Cline of Columbus,  Marie (Ronnie) Branton of Cartersville; two sons Robert Walter (Winnie) Tanner of Ranger, Alvin (Vickie) Tanner of Dallas; a brother J.W. (Jennie) Tanner of Locust Grove; 14 grandchildren, Lisa Whitaker, Laura Harris, Ben Cronon, Katie Cronon, Sarah Collum, John Branton, Kimberly Watts, Alana Watts, Kimberly Davis, Misty Pittman, Chris Pittman, Kelly Jackson, Amy Chavet, and Nikki Hopper; 27 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, September 20, 2020 at 3:00 PM in the chapel of Barton Funeral Home with Shane Bramblett officiating.  Interment will follow in Pine Log United Methodist Church Cemetery.  Pallbearers include John Branton, Drake Collum, Brian Whitaker, Ben Cronon, Chris Pittman, Shane Jackson, and Mike Bramblett.

The family will receive friends Sunday, at Barton Funeral Home,  from 12:00 PM until the funeral hour
