Obituary

Mr. Roy Wright Fletcher, 87, of 152 41st Street, Adairsville passed away on Sunday, March 22, 2015 at the home of his daughter.

Mr. Fletcher was born in Gordon County, Georgia, December 16, 1927, son of the late Wright and Bonnie Jackson Fletcher. Mr. Fletcher was a loving father and devout Christian man who loved his family and loved serving his lord. Mr. Fletcher and his late wife, Mary Lou, were co-founders of CanaanLand Christian Center. He loved gospel music and loved to sing. He sang with the Gospel Pilgrim Group for several years. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jack and Edward Fletcher; sister, Geraldine Woodring and his loving wife and companion for seventy years, Mrs. Mary Lou (Metcalf) Fletcher.

He is survived by his children, David and Glenda Fletcher of Adairsville, Roger and Paula Fletcher of Adairsville; Linda Millsap of Adairsville, Kay Fletcher of Adairsville, and Sheryl and Craig Burgess of San Antonio, TX; 4 grandchildren, Taylor Fletcher, Stephen Fletcher, Lee Fletcher, and Michelle Lynn Sherman; 3 great grandchildren, Will Fletcher, Ben Fletcher, and Tyler Fletcher; sister, Marion and Robert Hudgens of Calhoun; special friend, Robert Smith and 2 great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 26, 2015 at 2:30 PM from the chapel of Barton Funeral Home with Ministers Donnie Hudgens, Loy Frix, and Jim Pinkard officiating. Interment will follow in the Oostanaula Baptist Church cemetery. Jimmy, Frankie, and Freddie Fletcher, Jimmy Woods, Arthur Jenkins, and Robert Smith will serve as pallbearers and grandsons will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Barton Funeral Home, Adairsville.
