Mr. Rufus Eugene Mulinix, Sr., age 91, of 100 Mulinix Road, Kingston passed away Friday, December 30, 2011, at his residence.

He was born in Taylorsville, GA, August 26, 1920, son of the late Benjamin and Iva Lou Fields Mulinix. Mr. Mulinix was a member and deacon of Kingston Baptist Church. A veteran of the United States Army Air Corps, he served from 1940 to 1945 during World War II, specifically in the China Burma India Theatre, as a Technical Sergeant specializing in communications. He retired from General Electric after nearly 30 years of service in addition to being a lifelong farmer. He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Ernest William Mulinix, who died in combat in France during the Normandy invasion in 1944, and Joe Ben Mulinix; and a sister, Sara Lou Mulinix Madden.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Martha Hefner Mulinix of Kingston; 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Victor and Marty Mulinix of Kingston and Rufus and Lisa Mulinix, Jr., of Lafayette; 4 grandsons, Micah Mulinix, Asa Mulinix, Jacob Mulinix, and Ben Mulinix; a step-granddaughter, Melissa Smith and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held Monday, January 2, 2011 at 11:00 AM from Kingston Baptist Church with Rev. Jimmy Garland officiating. Interment will follow in Kingston Cemetery with full military honors. The body will lie in state at the church on Monday from 10:00 AM until the funeral hour.

The gentlemen of Kingston Baptist Church will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends on Sunday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Barton Funeral Home, Adairsville.
