Mrs. Sallie Lockridge Dodd, age 89, formerly of Adairsville, passed away Thursday, May 12, 2011, at Starcrest of Cartersville.
She was born in Kingston, GA, August 18, 1921, daughter of the late Clarence Estell and Mamie Sewell Lockridge. Mrs. Dodd was a member of the First Christian Church of Adairsville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh Dodd, 3 sisters Beatrice White, Mary Lee Stewart, and Irene Weathington, and 3 brothers, John Lockridge, Henslee Lockridge, and Clarence Lockridge, Jr.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Edwin and Brenda Dodd of Kennesaw; a daughter and son-in-law, Jean and Leamon Hollaran of White; a sister, Jeanette Bailey of Rome; 6 grandchildren, Dana (Lance) Walker, Neal (Lori) Hollaran, Ted (Brenda) Dodd, Brian (Sonia) Dodd, Michelle (Scott) Culpepper, and Scott (Tina) Dodd; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, May 15, 2011 at 3:00 PM from the chapel of Barton Funeral Home, Adairsville, with Minister Danny Pelfrey officiating. Interment will follow in Eastview Cemetery, Adairsville.
Pallbearers will be Ted Dodd, Brian Dodd, Scott Dodd, Neal Hollaran, Lance Walker, and Jimmy Wood, while honorary pallbearers include George Bailey, Ronnie Manning, and Scott Culpepper.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 12:00 PM until the funeral hour, 3:00 PM, at Barton Funeral Home.
