Mr. Sammy Joe Ellis, 75, of McKenzie Street, Adairsville, passed away Thursday, February 14, 2013.

Mr. Ellis was born in Adairsville, Georgia, November 11, 1937, son of the late Bradley and Nettie Cochran Ellis. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, retired from First Brand in Cartersville, and of the Christian Faith. Mr. Ellis loved classic cars and collecting Cushman scooters. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife Carolyn McCullough Ellis; 3 sisters, Rilla Johnston, Eloise Ellis, and Janie Mealor; a brother, Bill Ellis and a niece and nephew, Debbie Lynn Gowan and Lewis Johnston.

He is survived by 2 nieces, Jill and Chris Brown of Calhoun and Pam and Tony Daniel of Calhoun; 3 nephews, Ronnie and Donna Mealor of Sacramento, CA, Larry and Courtney Mealor of Adairsville, Jerry and Bobbi Johnston of Rome ; great niece and nephews, Katie Dohrmann, Seth King, and Ryan Brown; great great niece, Annabelle King.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 16, 2013, at 2:00 PM at the chapel of Barton Funeral Home, Adairsville with Min. Danny Pelfrey and Rev. Jim Pinkard officiating. Interment will follow in Eastview Cemetery, Adairsville.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.

Pallbearers include Steve Morgan, Darryl Hyde, Chris Brown, Ryan Brown, Seth King, Merrill Landrum, Larry Mealor, Jimmy King, George Huskins and David McClure
