Mrs. Sandra Gail Rust Higgins, age 72, of Adairsville passed away peacefully Thursday, March 12, 2020, surrounded by her family whom she loved and adored.

She was born in Rome, Georgia, February 25, 1948, to the late Thomas Joseph Rust, Jr. and Dorothy Goss Rust Hogan. Sandra graduated from Pepperell High School Class of 1966. Following high school she met and married the love of her life Mr. Dean Higgins on January 5, 1968. Together they owned and operated Higgins and Sons Construction. She was a member of Oothcalooga Baptist Church and the founder and Queen Mum of Sassy Dazzling Divas Chapter of the Red Hat Society. Her children and grandchildren were her proudest accomplishment and brought immense joy into her life. Sandra was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dennis "Dean" Edward Higgins on December 23, 2015; brother, Ronald Morris "Ronnie" Rust and sister, Susan Gwennette "Gwen" Wynn; grandparents, Henry and Louella Goss and Thomas Rust, Sr; stepfather, R. L. Hogan; brother-in-law, Dudley Higgins and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Survivors include her sons, Brent Higgins and Barry and Jennifer Higgins; grandchildren, Dallas (Ty) Rutledge, Hannah (Ethan) Abernathy, Daleigh Higgins, Callie Ayer, Destin Van Dyke, and Shelbie Van Dyke; great-grandson, Lincoln Rutledge; brother-in-law, Danny (Tina) Higgins; aunt, Helen Goss, special friends, Betty Teague, Trannie Davis, Pam and Bobby Cox, and Cathy and Byron Green; adopted son, Jamie (Vickie) Hall and family; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Monday, March 16, 2020, at 1:00 PM from NorthPointe Church, Adairsville, with Rev. Jim Pinkard and Mr. Jim Laney officiating. The body will lie in state at the church from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. Interment will follow in Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church Cemetery, Adairsville. Pallbearers will be Danny Higgins, Jamie Hall, Ethan Abernathy, Ty Rutledge, Emanuel Olvera, Austin Davis, Billy Womack, and Bo Carter. Honorary pallbearers will be Jamie Thacker, Jason Pasley, James Cox, Byron Green, and Bobby Cox.

The family will receive friends at Barton Funeral Home, Sunday evening from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.

Mrs. Higgin's family wishes to gratefully thank Anne Ledford, Gerlene Herrin, Heyman Hospice, and her nurses, Tracy, Kaneshia, and Dana for all their care and compassion.
