Mr. Sidney Dewitt Jarrett, age 86, of 570 Snow Springs Road, Adairsville, passed away Saturday morning, April 16, 2011 at his residence.

He was born in Dooly County, GA, April 6, 1925, son of the late John and Mary Moore Jarrett. Mr. Jarrett had served in the U. S. Army Air Corps during WWII, the U. S. Air force during the Korean Conflict, and retired from Lockheed Martin after 35 years. He was a member and deacon of Dry Creek Baptist Church and an avid hunter and golfer. He was preceded in death by a son, Phillip Jarrett; sisters, Mamie Joe Cowart and Margaret Shook; brothers, Howard, Alvin, Fred, and J.O. Jarrett;.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Evelyn Towe Jarrett of Adairsville; 3 sons and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Karen Jarrett of Kingston, Stanley Jarrett of Adairsville, and Jerry Jarrett of Adairsville; 6 grandchildren, David Jarrett, Teryn Jarrett, Matt Jarrett, P.J. House, Jessica House, and Sydney Jarrett; 2 great-grandchildren, Harrison Jarrett and Abram Jarrett; a brother, Melvin Jarrett of Cartersville and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Barton Funeral Home, Adairsville with Rev. Sammy Allen, Rev. Harold Owens, and Rev. Jody Orton officiating. Interment will follow in the Dry Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Sons and Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of Dry Creek Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends Monday from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Barton Funeral Home.
