Mr. Steve Don Hazelwood, age 66, of Rome, passed away peacefully Wednesday morning, February 1, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Rome, Georgia, June 4, 1956, son of the late Rev. Theodore H. Hazelwood and Alice Hight Hazelwood. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Ted J. Hazelwood and Randy Hazelwood. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and brother. Steve was a member of Dry Creek Baptist Church and worked in construction most of his life. He enjoyed taking long rides, being outdoors, and looking for Native American artifacts. Steve will be missed.

Survivors include his loving wife of 44 years, Rhonda Hazelwood; sons, Jeremy and Margaret Hazelwood and Cole Hazelwood; grandchildren, Sofia and Ellanora Hazelwood; brother, Bobby and Sherry Hazelwood; sister, Penny and Dowis Satterfield; several sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 4, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Dry Creek Baptist Church with Reverends Dixon Holtzclaw and Jody Orton, officiating. The body will lie in state at the church from 1:00PM until 2:00PM. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers include Troy Swann, Cam Blankenship Mason Brown, D. J. Satterfield, Tyler Anderson, and Michael Lee Rose. Honorary pallbearers will be Alan White, Belton Shepherd, Jon Hazelwood, Tab Hazelwood, Ramey Hazelwood, Lane Mitchell, Dowis Satterfield, and Michael Rose.

The family will receive friends Friday evening from 5:00 PM until 8:00PM at Barton Funeral Home, Adairsville.
