Obituary

Ms. Sylvia Malone, age 67, of West Howard Street, Kingston, passed away Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at Redmond Regional Medical Center, Rome.

Ms. Malone was born in Rome, Georgia, April 12, 1946, daughter of the late Jack D. Malone and Mattie Bell Andrews Malone. She attended Cass High School where she was homecoming queen and a majorette, and later completed cosmetology school. Up until two years ago, she had resided in Hilton Head, SC and St. Simons, GA where she was active with the Sparrow's Nest Homeless Ministries. Ms. Malone had attended Kingston Baptist Church where she was a member of the Women on Missions group. She enjoyed painting, playing piano, traveling and especially spending time with friends and family. She will be remembered as a vibrant individual, always loving, friendly, helpful and full of life. She was preceded in death by her parents; Jack D. Malone and Mattie Bell Malone; grandparents, Guy and Lois Malone and Earnest and Ada Andrews.

She is survived by her son, Bandy Baker of Hernando, MS; daughter, Traci Ray and her fiancé Buddy Smith of Kingston; granddaughter, Sydney Howell of Kingston; sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Larry Burns of Kingston; brother and sister-in-law, Guy and Laura Jo Malone of Kingston; nieces and nephews, April Hardin, Jody Hardin, Kaylan Malone, Ryan Malone, Savannah Hardin and Cody Hardin; aunt, Louise Andrews of Kingston, and a special aunt and uncle, John and Jane Burch of Kingston.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 3, 2013, at 11:00 AM at Kingston Baptist Church, Kingston with Rev. Jimmy Garland officiating. Interment will follow in Kingston City Cemetery, Kingston. Tommy Jones, Jake Jones, Ryan Malone, Cal Duke, John Hale, Mike Nichols, and Kenneth Mangrum will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends Friday at Barton Funeral Home from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Kingston Baptist Church, Women on Missions supporting Backpack Buddies and the Food Pantry at P.O. Box 369, Kingston, GA 30145.
