Obituary

Tammy Laurette Hutt was born in St. Louis, Missouri on July 15, 1961. She was the youngest of three children to Geraldine (Whitehead) Hutt and Loister Hutt. Growing up, Tammy had many interests including singing, basketball, and track. Tammy was an athlete in the Junior Olympics, competing in Track. As an adult, Tammy had a passion for playing the drums, playing the bass guitar, and roller skating.

Tammy graduated from Northwest High School in 1980. She attended the University of Missouri in Columbia (Mizzou) on a track scholarship and later graduated with her B.A. from Missouri Baptist College in 1989. She graduated from the St. Louis Police Academy in 1992. After moving to Atlanta, GA, Tammy entered and graduated from the Fulton County Police Academy as a MARTA Police Officer in 2003.

Prior to her career in Law enforcement, Tammy was a Collegiate Admission's Counselor, an Assistant Women's Basketball Coach, and had her own Personal Protection business (Prime Executive Protection & Associates LLC).

Tammy, fondly known as "T-Hutt" in the Law Enforcement arena, served in the following capacities as a Peace Officer over the last 33 years: The first African American female Police Officer for the Kirkwood Police Department (Missouri), Officer for the Washington University Police Department (St. Louis), and as an Officer for the St. Louis Police Department. Most recently, Tammy served as an Officer for the MARTA Police Department in Atlanta, GA from 2003 until 2014. During this time, Tammy was certified as a Cultural Diversity Trainer and became the Diverse Community Outreach Liaison (DCOL) for the MARTA Police Department. In this role, Tammy developed professional relationships between the MARTA Police Department, members of the community, and business owners. After retiring, she later returned to the MARTA Police Department in 2016, where she served as a Reserve Officer and was assigned to the Police Training Unit. Additionally, Tammy proudly served as a member of the MARTA Police Honor Guard team.

Tammy was preceded in death by her parents: Loister and Geraldine; and her brother: Marty. She leaves to cherish her memory, her brother: Lamont Hutt, her dear friends: Paula Weaver, Binta Chapman, and Diana Allen, her loving 4-legged furry protector and friend, "Chance" and a Host of Family, Colleagues, and Friends.

Tammy's legacy is one of Integrity, Friendship and LOVE. She will be deeply missed and affectionately remembered.
