Obituary

Mr. Thomas Barnes, age 73, of Adairsville passed away at home in the loving care of his wife, three children, and one granddaughter on Sunday, February 14, 2021.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 53 years, Marilyn Leeds Barnes; children, Michelle Hibbett and husband Billy, Tommy Barnes and wife Monica, and Megan Barnes Mingone; his eight grandchildren whom he adored; Jordan, Asa, Elijah, Christopher, Tommy, Liliana, Karisma, and Gianluca.

Thomas was born in Lockport, NY, May 21, 1947, to the late John Barnes and Elizabeth Fisher Barnes. Lockport is where Thomas met and married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Marilyn. They moved to Florida in 1969, working in construction. Along with his wife he eventually started up his own business, Wood 'N You. They successfully owned and operated it for 20 years, instilling an entrepreneurial drive in their children. He sold his business, retired early and moved to Georgia in 2004. There he continued keeping busy, always working on projects big or small and sharing his knowledge with his children and grandchildren. The love of God and family were the center of his life. He was an avid outdoors man and lifelong fisherman, sharing several special fishing spots with his family. He was a true man of character, had a generous heart, and was always willing to help others. Mr. Barnes was well-known for sharing the abundance of vegetables grown from "Papa's Garden" with the Adairsville Community. Thomas was a dedicated husband, father, and Papa who will be greatly missed.

His faith in the Lord gave him the strength to endure many challenges throughout his life. He fought hard in his last and final battle with Esophageal Cancer. Heaven has gained a new warrior.

" I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." 2 Timothy 4:7.
