Mr. Travis Wayne Gunnels, age 51, of Cartersville, went to be with his Lord and Savior Saturday, September 26, 2026. Travis was born in Ozona, Texas, on November 13, 1974.

Travis was a devoted family man who cherished the time he spent with those he loved. He always did his best to be a good friend to everyone he met and had a genuine love for people. His faith was an important part of his life, and he was a member of Adairsville Church of Christ, where he enjoyed worship and fellowship with others. Travis worked as a truck driver and mechanic for CRD and was a proud member of Teamsters Local 657 Union. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, grilling, watching The Andy Griffith Show and The Dukes of Hazzard, and especially spending time with his grandchildren. Above all, Travis will be remembered for his love of family, his kindness toward others, the simple moments that brought him happiness, and the many titles he held- son, husband, daddy, poppa and friend. His willingness to always lend a helping hand and offer sage advice will be missed by all. He leaves behind many cherished memories that will remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Michelle Dianne Van Wie Gunnels; beloved sons, Austin Gunnels and wife Abby, Tyler Gunnels and wife Samantha, Matt Gunnels and wife Charitee, and Chris Thomaston and wife Shay; honorary sons, Zach and Taylor Pitner; parents, Susan Gayle Reed Gunnels and Gerald Wayne Gunnels; brother, Joey Gunnels and wife Annette; sister-in-law, Chantel Gunnels; grandchildren, Timothy, Anna, Eva, Silas, and Hendrix; mother-in-law, Darlene Simpson; brother-in-law, Bill Van Wie and wife Lanie; nieces and nephews, Dalton Gunnels, Sara Gunnels, Brittany Gagne, Kaitlin Van Wie and Mikayla Parker.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Sidney Allen Gunnels; grandparents, Ancel and Oleta Reed and Bill and Ona Gunnels; and father-in-law, Garry Simpson along with several aunts and uncles.

Funeral services will be held Friday, October 2, 2026, at 2:00 PM from the Adairsville Church of Christ with Min. Garrett Morado and Mr. Mike Smith officiating.

The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Barton Funeral Home, Adairsville.

The family will accept flowers, or in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Adairsville Boys & Girls Club in memory of Travis.
