Reverend Weldon "Donny" Odell Whitener, age 54 of Cartersville, passed away went to his heavenly home October 23, 2021.

He was born in Cartersville, GA, November 5, 1966, son of the late Paul Alvin Whitener and Nancy Edwards Thacker(Jerry). Donny was a faithful member of Trinity Baptist Church. His passion was helping lead others to Jesus Christ. He enjoyed his time spent ministering at the Bartow County Jail. Donny was a true Godly man who was well loved and will be dearly missed. Mr. Whitener was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Paula Whitener Kelley and Donna Michelle Jacobs.

Survivors include his loving wife, Carol Whitener; children, Kevin Paul Whitener (Deanne), Keisha Rae White(Jason), and James Murphy; grandchildren, Andrea Poston, Andrew Poston, and James Murphy; brother, Morris and Elsa Whitener; special nephew, Morris Isaac Whitener; sister, Wendy Haney stepmother, Shelty Whitener; stepbrother, Johnny Wilson; aunt, Joan Lewis Whitener; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 27, 2021, at 2:00 PM at Trinity Baptist Church, Cartersville, with Ministers Larry Davis, Wesley Morris, and Will Rogers officiating. Interment will follow in the Providence Cemetery, Cartersville. Pallbearers will include Kevin Whitener, James Murphy, Jason Poston, Billy Hennon, Victor Perez, Mark Gibson, Charles Gibson, Gerardo Rodriguez.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Trinity Baptist church, 1511 Joe Frank Harris Parkway, Cartersville, GA 30120.
