Mr. William Sanders Everett, better known as Bill, age 88, of Rome, passed away Monday, April 27, 2026.
Bill was born in Shannon, GA, January 15, 1938, to the late Urail Ervin Everett and Georgia Marie Harris Everett. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Robert Everett and sisters, Doris Cooper, Carolyn Adams, Sue Reeber, and Jean Everett.
Survivors include his loving wife of 65 years, Alene McClure Everett; son, Doug Everett; grandchildren, Ian William Everett (Heather Finch), Richard Cole Everett (Kayla), Zoe Hambrick, and James Hambrick; great-granddaughter, Madison Everett; Michelle Cole (Randy), who he loved like a daughter; brother, Ted Everett (Betty); sisters, Brenda Everett and Ann Baker (Kenneth); and several nieces and nephews.
A proud veteran, Bill served his country with honor and dedication. He began his military career in 1956 with the United States Navy and later continued his service with the United States Air Force, where he retired as a Master Sergeant after 27 years of service. During his years of service, he worked as a military police (MP) and dispatcher, bravely serving in the Vietnam War. In 1976, he became a Master Mason and remained a devoted member of Shannon Masonic Lodge #100, where he served as Past Master and Director of Work. This year, he was honored with his 50-year pin, a testament to his lifelong commitment and brotherhood. After retirement, Bill found great joy in working on small engines and earned the nickname “Master Fixer,” as there was rarely anything he couldn’t repair. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother whose family was his greatest pride and purpose. Bill never met a stranger, blessed with the gift of conversation and a genuine love for people. He enjoyed fishing, cheering on the Atlanta Braves, and was known for his larger-than-life presence—even down to his unforgettable size 15 shoes. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 1, 2026, at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Barton Funeral Home, Adairsville with Rev. Kent Thomas officiating. Internment will follow in Eastview Cemetery Adairsville.
