Willie Belle Dyer Freeman passed away on Saturday, August 2, 2014. She was born on August 15, 1929, in Floyd County, GA. Willie Belle was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Millard Virgil Freeman; her youngest son, Jimmy Richard Freeman; and parents, Pauline Garlin Dyer and James Homer Dyer. She is survived by her daughter, Wanda Hullender (Ed), son, Sammy Freeman (Holly), and three grandsons, John Edwin Hullender III (Ashley), Spencer Garlin Freeman (Amanda) and Richard Trevor Hullender. Also surviving are her sisters, Emma Baugh and Peggy Rainey, and her brother, James (Joann) Dyer, as well as several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by Tom Rausch who held a special place in her heart.
Mrs. Freeman was a loving mother and grandmother. She was devoted to her family and Snow Springs Baptist Church where she was a member for 65 years. She taught children's Sunday School for more than 20 years and was a charter member of the Ladies Circle. She was also a member of the Joseph P. Bowdoin Eastern Star where she served as Grand Matron.
Mrs. Freeman was a graduate of Model High School and graduated from Cosmetology School in Cartersville. She worked for many years at Cal-Mor. in Adairsville, but being a wife and mother was what she loved most. Mrs. Freeman was an avid gardener, and she enjoyed baking, sewing, and knitting. She was a loyal Braves fan and animal lover. She also enjoyed traveling with her family.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on August 5, 2014, at Snow Springs Baptist Church, Snow Springs Church Road, Adairsville, GA 30103, with Rev. James Ward officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The body will lie in state at the church from 10:30 AM until 11:00 AM. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Barton Funeral Home.
The family would like to thank everyone at Home Instead for their love and excellent care, especially Ellen Braswell, Sophia Buffington, and Laresa Heyward, as well as the entire United Hospice of Calhoun staff. In addition, the family would like to thank Dr. Byron Littlefield and his staff, Chris Painter and the entire staff of Adairsville Drugs.
