Mr. Willie (P Rooni) Clayton Harris Jr., Age 76, of Rome, Georgia, passed away Thursday, August 29, 2024, in his hometown of Adairsville, Georgia.
Willie was born in Adairsville, Georgia at the Brick Yard on November 7, 1947. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 46 years, Linda Faye Nash Harris; son, Montana Clayton Harris; mother, Ollie Dee Carter Reese; father, Willie "Skace" Clayton Harris Sr.; and mother-in-law Lizzie Mae Nash.
Willie was a happy and Godly Man. He enjoyed church, music, singing, working, and handyman work. He loved being the deacon of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Coosa, GA. He traveled to different counties singing "Run On" and "Over Yonder". He always said things to keep a smile on everyone's face. Willie was a hard worker and was known to work multiple jobs including Gayley and Lord as a machine operator, where he retired after 39 years of service, Goody's as a custodian, and Redmond Hospital as a transporter.
Survivors include his children, Deana Marie Shores, Exavior (Denice) Christian, and Susan (Terry) McConnell Ellis; brother, Eddie (Leslie) Harris; sisters, Bernice Smith, Eunice Harris, Paulette Reese, Pauline Reese, and Rena Curtis; brother-in-law, Ray (Barbara) Nash and a host of Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nieces, Nephews, and Friends.
A celebration of Mr. Harris's life will be held Saturday, September 7, 2024, at 11:00 AM from NorthPointe Church in Adairsville, GA with Bishops V.T. Harden and Billy Harris officiating. The body will lie in state at the church from 10:00AM until 11:00AM. Interment will follow in Eastview Cemetery, Rome.
Visitation will be held Friday, September 6, 2024, from 6:00 PM until 7:00PM at Barton Funeral Home, Adairsville.
Pallbearers include Jerry Henderson, John D. Richards, Gary Slocum, Lamar Wilkey, Larry Williams. Honorary pallbearers will be David Lee Slocum and Terry Carson.
Flower Ladies include Vickie Elkins, Teresa Turner, Kim Turner, Laverne Harris, Gloria Wilkey, Lorraine Lowe, and Petina Reynolds.
