Mr. Willie Dorace West, age 85, of 5190 Joe Frank Harris Parkway, Adairsville, died Monday, September 3, 2012, at the residence.

Mr. West was born in Calhoun, GA, July 29, 1927, son of the late Harlen and Dawnie Mealer West. He was a member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, Adairsville. Mr. West was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Trammel West.

Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Edith West of Adairsville; a son, Dennie Brookshire of Calhoun; a daughter and son-in-law, Bobbie and Terry Steward of Adairsville; 2 grandsons, D.J. Brookshire and Brandon Reed; a great-grandson, Rowan Brookshire; a sister, Louise Woodard of Nicklesville and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 6, 2012, at 2:00 PM from Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, Adairsville, with Rev. Buddy Bagley, and Rev. Bobby Causby officiating. The body will lie-in-state at the church from 1:00 PM until the funeral hour at 2:00 PM. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers will be D.J. Brookshire, Brandon Reed, T.J. Solomon, Anson Coker, Dennis Sutton, and Steven Proper.

The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00PM until 9:00PM at Barton Funeral Home, Adairsville.
