Mr. Wilton (Wick) A. Jarrett, Jr, age 76, of White Road, NW, Adairsville, passed away Thursday, August 14, 2014 at Gordon Health and Rehab, Calhoun.
Mr. Jarrett was born in Rome, Georgia, January 24, 1938, son of the late Wilton Allison Jarrett, Sr and Rose Evans Jarrett. He was a member of Adairsville United Methodist Church where he was a Sunday school teacher and held many other positions. Mr. Jarrett served in the United States Air Force Reserve during the Cuban Crisis and was a graduate of the University of Georgia. He was a branch manager for the Internal Revenue Service for seventeen years before fulfilling his dream of opening a hardware store. Mr. Jarrett was the owner and operator of the Ace Hardware in Adairsville for twenty seven years. Along with owning his business, Wick was a lifelong farmer, real estate agent, served on the board of directors for the Bank of Adairsville and was an advisor to those who sought his advice. In his free time, he enjoyed spending time with his family, farming, and playing golf. He was also an avid Georgia Bulldog fan.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-five years, Barbara B. Jarrett of Adairsville; daughters and son-in-law, Betsy Jarrett of LaGrange and Angie and Courtney Hice of Adairsville; grandchildren, Kelsy Hice and Hunter Hice of Adairsville; Mother-in-law, Lucille Baggett; cousin, John Brodie of San Diego, CA, and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, August 17, 2014 at 3:00 PM at Adairsville United Methodist Church with Dr. Ronald Tyler, Rev. Skip Mitchell and Rev. Tim Baird officiating. The body will lie in state at the church on Sunday from 2:00 pm until the funeral hour. Interment will follow in Eastview cemetery. Pallbearers will include Norred Crews, Fred Painter, Charles Freeman, Bill Satterfield, Steve Morrow, Steve Jackson, and Bobby Flemons.
The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Barton Funeral Home, Adairsville.
